I am so excited to participate in the Crafty Destash Challenge this month! I started digging through my craft supplies trying to come up with ideas and found a package of plastic paint palettes that I had bought for the grandkids to use and here they were still in the unopened package. But they did spark an idea!
I’ve been working on redoing the grandchildren’s bedroom at our house. One of the things I’ve planned is for one wall to focus on their creative endeavors including canvas paintings by each of the grandchildren. So now my thought is to do an artsy wreath with the paint palette and some brushes attached.
We are allowed to spend $10 for supplies for the challenge so I picked up a grapevine style wreath at Michaels for $4.99. Once home and trying to decide how to put things on the wreath, I realized I needed ribbon and a bow.Checking my stash all I had was burlap ribbon which seemed too dull for what would be the art wall in the grandkid’s room.
I came up with the idea of covering the burlap with paint swipes using some acrylic paint and a paintbrush. My granddaughter was spending the night and of course wanted to work on one for her too! I think they turned out really cute.
Then I put paint in each one of the divots in the paint palette to give it a used look.
The next step was making the bow.
Now time to glue everything on. First I wrapped it with my painted burlap ribbon and glued the bow in place.
Final steps were to glue the palette on and secure the paint brushes. I didn’t use glue on them because they fit snuggly in the wreath.
I now have an artsy wreath that will adorn the creativity wall in the grandkids room. Their room is close to being finished and I’ll show it to you then.
What would you make with the craft supplies you have on hand?
