Winter Wonders Giveaway HopIt’s official!  Winter has begun!  And along with it, the cold, the early sunsets and depending where you live; snow. Our snowfall totals this year are right at about:  one entire inch.  Most people won’t miss the snow should it decide to pass us by, but I like to get one good snowfall.  Do you too, or does snow, cold days and the sun’s setting early leave you feeling a little blue?  If so the Winter Wonders Giveaway Hop has arrived in time to add a little cheer to your day!

Last winter we were endowed with one terrific snowstorm which dumped over 3 feet of snow on us.  Our experience was captured in “Surviving the Mid-Atlantic Snowstorm with 3 Grandkids and a Puppy“.  It was quite an experience too, I was snowed in with 3 young grandchildren!

I hadn’t made snow ice cream since I was a young child and my grandchildren had never experienced it so we had fun making the ice cream together and even more fun eating it together.  Have fun making it with your children or grandchildren this year!

Snow ice cream recipe:

  • 8 cups fresh snow
  • 14 oz can of sweetened evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Gather the fresh snow, add the evaporated milk and vanilla.  Stir and eat immediately.

Now on to the hop!

I made several resolutions, similiar to ones made in past years- I want to exercise an average of 3 times a week, eat better (less carbs/sugar), lose 10 pounds, read 60 books, and pay off my car. It’s a lot but I figure if I even accomplish even 30% of that, it’s a good year!
