Instead of giving candy or toys this Easter, give your grandchildren something that will have lasting value… the gift of time with you!
I’ve put together a list of 40 ideas for you to do just that; spend precious time with your grandchildren! I’ve also provided downloadable coupons for you to fill in with the activity you choose. Download and print a coupon, fill it in with the activity you choose, place it in a plastic egg, a card, an Easter basket or at their seat at the table for Easter dinner!
Here are my ideas for special moments to share with your grandchildren: Read more….

Snow has been rather absent so far this winter in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. We have an inch on the ground right now which will be gone tomorrow, I’m sure! I would like to see one good snowfall every year, (my husband hates it when I say that), have it last for a few days and then have the temps return to a balmy 50-60 degrees instead of below freezing.
So with actual snow lacking, in order to get our snow fix the grandchildren and I have read some snowman books, including Read more….

We were focusing on learning the letter H this week, but these things would work with any letter you’re teaching.
There is a miniature horse farm about an hour away from us called “The Land of Little Horses“. This is someplace I’ve been several times before. The first time it was just my husband, Paul and I because he has first-hand knowledge of my love for horses and planned the day for me. My grandchildren really like pretzels. Do yours? They like the straight ones, the curly ones and the large pretzel sticks, which we sometimes eat for lunch with peanut butter to dip them in! So today when they were over we decided to try our hand at making homemade pretzels from scratch. Read more….

Christmas, along with its many special craft projects is now behind us. Winter weather is looming large though, making it the perfect time to create crafts dealing with snow and ice. Making Borax crystal snowflakes has to be one of the easiest and most fun craft projects we can do with our grandchildren, plus you end up with a beautiful snowflake to hang and enjoy!
So this week, after her younger siblings were in bed, my 6 year old granddaughter and I spent some special time together making some snowflakes. They’re so simple, but turn out so pretty! Read more….

My grandkids love Halloween. Whether they like the costumes or the candy more, I’m not sure! I do know that they also love Halloween crafts and I enjoy coming up with crafts we can do together.
I’ve gathered together a few crafts that I think you will enjoy making with your grandchildren. But before we get into them, I would like to add that if you don’t have time to gather supplies or maybe you just don’t want to, you can find kits at your local hobby store that have everything needed to put together easy projects. I bought Halloween stamps and Read more…

For many of us the holiday season means traveling to visit loved ones. We all know what that means when babies or young children are involved… packing lots of stuff to take along!!
When family travel is involved, our grandchildren love to get to ride along with Paul and I. So a few years ago when a trip was planned and our granddaughter would be riding with us, I created a checklist in the hopes of not forgetting anything. I’m so much better at packing if I have a list!
I recently turned the list into a printable infographic for you in the hopes that it will help you out in some small way too! Read more…
