Snow has been rather absent so far this winter in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. We have an inch on the ground right now which will be gone tomorrow, I’m sure! I would like to see one good snowfall every year, (my husband hates it when I say that), have it last for a few days and then have the temps return to a balmy 50-60 degrees instead of below freezing.
So with actual snow lacking, in order to get our snow fix the grandchildren and I have read some snowman books, including Read more….

I love having our grandchildren over for play days and sleepovers and wanted to have a room for them they considered their own. I’ve worked to create just that space for them.
The room had to be appropriate for boys and girls, so I chose two shades of green for the walls. I purchased paint from Lowes and painted three walls a pale green and one wall bright green.

School is rolling around once again! And it seems with each passing year the start date is moved up a little bit earlier. My grandchildren in California return to school on August 9th!
In the 60’s, every school year started the day after Labor Day. We didn’t have to wonder when it was going to start, we knew. Security.
Lots of things were different about school in the 60’s. I’m a baby boomer and proud of it and I like remembering when: Read more….

Today was one of our days with the grandkids and when thinking about what we would do with them we decided to take them to what we fondly refer to as the “duck park”. This local park has been named the 2nd most beautiful park in America and it is very pleasant to visit and walk the trails. It has a large pond that is full of ducks, geese, carp, goldfish and even a few swan. What makes it even better is that it has a snack bar that sells bags of corn for feeding the ducks, and a trip to the duck park read more….
