When it comes to pie fillings or the topping on my cheesecake, cherry is my favorite followed very closely by blueberry. This recipe for cherry cream cheese pie is easier to make than either of those and just as delicious. Just the way I like my recipes!

It looks pretty and is a creamy, flavorful treat in the pie crust, but I think it adds such a special touch to place it in a small fancy canning jar or a pretty dessert dish! Read more….

dessert bars

This is the first time I’ve made these dessert bars, so I wasn’t too sure what the result would be.   I was so pleased because they are total ooey, gooey goodness!

My taste testers were myself, my son and daughter-in-law and my husband, Paul.  My son and daughter-in-law loved them; in fact my son has already requested more.  When they were warm out of the oven my husband wasn’t too sure about them, but the next day he commented “you know, these are pretty good”.  And he showed his enthusiasm by helping us to eat the entire 9 x 13 inch pan over the next few days. easy dessert recipe

This easy dessert recipe is so quick to make, yet it tastes so good!  You’ll find yourself reaching for the ingredients again and again.  And with all of those beautiful red cherries, I think Cherry Delight is the perfect festive holiday dessert!

The holidays have snuck up on me this year.  Until a few days ago, I hadn’t even given a menu a second thought.  In past years, I’ve tried too hard to make a big dinner, turned down help when offered and ended up stressed out in the kitchen.  I’ve decided I’m not doing that this year.

Raspberry CobblerRaspberries were never one of my favorite fruits because of those little seeds, but when I read that July 19th was Raspberry cake day I decided to use them not in a cake, but a cobbler.  And I wanted to pick fresh ones.

Raspberry picking adventure….

So my husband Paul, our collie Gunnar, and I went raspberry picking.  I had a ball tramping along through the woods, picking berries as I went.  If you haven’t picked raspberries before you might not know that the bushes they grow on are covered with thorns, so it takes a little strategy to get them to give up their berries! blueberry bread & butter pudding

After browsing through all of those blueberry pie recipes last week, I have had a craving for, you guessed it, blueberries!  So with the goodness of blueberries fresh on my mind I decided to try an old recipe given to me by a sweet lady that said her grandmother used to make it for her when she was a little girl.

I had everything I needed except the blueberries, so I made a quick trip to the market to pick those up.  Upon returning home I was able to put this together and bake Read more….

Blueberry pieDid you know that today is Blueberry Pie Day and did you know that blueberries are one of the few fruits that are native to North America?

Native Americans called them star berries and believed that the berries were sent by the Great Spirit during a time of famine to relieve the hunger of their children.

We’ve known for a long time that blueberries have one of the highest amounts of antioxidants of all fruits and vegetables.  There is now evidence however, that blueberries can improve memory.  All the more reason to eat them! Read more…
